How it works
- Click the toolbar icon. The panel opens to the right of the page you are reading.
- Open a file, drag one into the panel, or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V.
- Choose Whole image or Selected areas, and set the strength with the slider.
- Press Save result, or copy the result straight to the clipboard.
Two modes
Whole image blurs everything in one move of the slider: that is how you get a soft background for a slide or a wallpaper. Selected areas hides only what you cover, so you can drag a rectangle over an email address, a face or a licence plate. Add as many rectangles as you need, move them, and resize them by the corners.
Nothing is uploaded
The extension has no network permission, so the picture has nowhere to go. There is no sign-in and no edit history. The only things remembered are the strength and the mode you used last, so the next file opens the same way.
Formats
- JPG, PNG and WebP are saved in the format they were opened in.
- An image in any other format is saved as PNG.
- The clipboard always receives PNG, because Chrome accepts no other image format there.
Questions
How strong does the blur get?
The slider runs from 0 to 100. At 100 the blur radius is five percent of the shorter side of the image, which leaves nothing readable.
Can I compare the result with the original?
Hold the space bar. The preview shows the original while the key is down.
Can it blur something on a web page directly?
The extension works with files, so take a screenshot of the page first and paste it with Ctrl+V.
